The culture of the Philippines is a diverse and vibrant fusion of indigenous, Asian, and Western influences. Filipinos have shown remarkable resilience in the face of calamities and catastrophes, consistently rising above challenges with a positive outlook. Family holds great importance in Filipino society, with a strong emphasis on kinship and treating even close friends as part of the family. Religion plays a significant role, evident in the presence of religious symbols and regular church attendance, particularly in the Catholic faith. Respect for the elderly is deeply ingrained, with children taught to use polite phrases like "Po" and "Opo" when addressing their elders. The cultural practice of "Pagmamano," where younger individuals raise the hands of their elders to their foreheads as a sign of respect, is also observed. Filipinos exhibit a strong sense of community spirit, readily helping one another without expecting anything in return. Festivities are an integral part of Filipino culture, with Christmas celebrations starting as early as September and lasting until the second week of January. Traditional practices like "Harana" (serenading) and the love for karaoke reflect the Filipinos' love for music and spending quality time with loved ones.
